My question is, is there some sort of guide or "pill" to safely navigating relations with black Americans?
For instance, I've lived in the South all my life (some 41 years) and I only have a few observations I can share:
- For most groups, obesity is associated with poverty and low social standing... except with black men. Fat black men are smarter and earn more money on average
- Black jurors tend to acquit black criminals
- Black Americans tend to put the blame on racism, prejudice or discrimination for any rejection from an outside group
- Black men tend to fetishize white women
I've also met my fair share of black Americans I'd rather not see again. For example, I was threatened by a black man, because my son apparently pushed his child at soccer practice when I was out walking. Rather than talking to the coach, he thought it was best to ruminate and stew on the problem, then confront me about it, ultimately telling me that if my son touches his son I'd have to deal with him. Several f-bombs were dropped near the kids too, and I don't want children hearing that language.
If anyone here has any anecdotes or advice they'd be willing to share, I'm all ears.
