Pros and Cons of not having Home Internet

Post by ZombieVampir »

PROS

1. You have to leave the House to access websites like Youtube, Instagram, X/witter, ect.

2. Less time online. Less doomsrolling or doomwatching. Less susceptible to Echo-chambers and more time to think about what you just read, watched or saw.

3.In a public space anyone could walk over and peek at what you're doing so you self-police.

4.Libraries.

5. One less Monthly Bill. I still have one Streaming service, But I use it 3-4 Days a Week.

6.Less time spent on Online Video Games.

7. you Build a Home Library, collect CDs and DVDs and use them more often. The Media you collect and Consume will mean more to you.

8.More time spent off the Computer and doing stuff you actually want to do.

9. Had to write Essays on paper and update the Online only software program. This has the added benefit of proof AI wasn't used.
CONS

1. No immediate connection to the Internet. If you don't have Mobile Data for a smart phone you won't be able to look up or check anything online.

2. Less Time available to spend Online. I sometimes miss Spending late nights walking around Minecraft Servers.

3. Internet Cafes don't exist anymore and nobody is interested in LAN Parties.

4.People expect to send you a message or Email online and for you to reply immediately.

5. Internet Archive no longer lets you download a copy of a Book for 14 days.

6. Typing words on paper into a Document file is Tedious and I almost missed a deadline because I chose not to do it for a couple days.

Super interesting but why do you choose that?

I think a lot of your pros are really about self-control rather than home internet itself no? I get what you mean also about echo chamber though.

Some of your cons also seem much bigger than you're letting on. Not having reliable internet makes studying, job hunting, banking, software updates, video calls, and accessing government or medical services more difficult. In today's world, home internet is almost a utility.

I don't Have Home Internet, because Dial up isn't available anymore.
I stopped having Internet at Home back when I was at Classes three Days a Week for 7 Hours each. I have a Smartphone with 2GB Mobile Data each Month which is more than enough for my needs. I have never liked Online banking or the Online only Government services.

I could've thought more about my List and worked on it more. Everything and Everyone is Online and I don't like that.
